Homecoming Dresses for Fall 2012

The prom season in the U.S. may be winding down but Promgirl is gearing up for another big homecoming season and has already begun posting homecoming dresses images for many of their designers' new fall collections. With the last high school proms being held over the next few weeks another prom season has come and gone and while some online retailers are comfortable with resting on their laurels this time of year, Promgirl has already begun releasing images and securing stock for the 2012 homecoming season.

Though not as seminal an event as prom, homecoming is a long standing academic tradition that is not to be taken lightly, especially for schools that invest a lot of energy, pride and school spirit into their sports teams. Typically held sometime between late August and early October the events surrounding a school's homecoming festivities culminate in a homecoming dance, which much like prom has become a more fashion conscious event in this age of camera phones and Facebook photo albums.

Promgirl was one of the internet's leading retailers of homecoming dresses in 2011, thanks in part to the wonderful designs offered by Promgirl's featured designers Jovani, Tony Bowls, Clarisse, Terani, Scala and Alyce. With demand growing for fashionable yet affordable fall dresses for homecoming events Promgirl is looking to capitalize on the success of last year by getting an earlier start on the 2012 homecoming season. Evidence of their effort can already be seen in the fact that Promgirl is one of the few online retailers to have already begun posting images of the 2012 fall collections.

Clothing for the Congo - sending love to street children

Stunned by the plight of children living on the streets in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Father Ryan High School sophomore Wabi Tela decided to take action.Wabi launched a charity, Kemi's Friends, to raise awareness and clothing for the abandoned kids in his family's homeland."Wabi's enthusiasm for this is infectious," said Tim Forbes, dean of student life at Father Ryan. "It's one thing to educate people, but then he's also said, 'Another way you can help out is to donate clothes.'"His approaches really appeal to our students because there's something tangible they can do after he's talked about some of the complex issues going on in the Congo. We're able to follow up and support Kemi's Friends."

There has been no shortage of support, which can be seen in the boxes of donated clothing taking over Wabi's home."We have probably 12 huge boxes with 90 to 100 pounds of clothes in each box. They're in our living room," said Zudi, Wabi's mother, with a laugh."Shipping the clothes is in the works. We're planning to go to Chicago on Memorial Day weekend to actually ship the clothes."Wabi's parents grew up in the Congo, but he was born in Brussels while they were studying in Belgium. Though he never lived there, Wabi was raised with a close connection to his Congolese heritage, which was strengthened by his first visit to the country when he was 12 years old.

"We were traveling around the capital city of Kinshasa," Wabi said. "What we were noticing was that there were so many children on the streets by themselves. (In the U.S.), you would at least see younger children accompanied with someone."We asked the person who was with us, 'Why are there so many children there?' He told us that they were street children, and being 12 years old, I did not think much about it."The next year, Wabi went back and, this time, couldn't ignore the reality of the situation.

Slushes, good novels, comfy dresses and night running

Maxi dresses. These dresses give ladies a level of comfort not even found in workout clothes or pajamas – AND they look good on any body type. What's even better? They are trendy, affordable and versatile. You can dress them up with a cardigan and wedges or dress them down with a blue-jean jacket and sandals. Find them in jersey, cotton, linen and even silk at stores ranging from Target to Banana Republic. So if you happen to see me out and about this spring and summer, expect me to be wearing the most comfortable style of dress known to man.

Running at night. Just because it's appallingly hot outside doesn't mean May is a good month to be on a treadmill. And the only things I want to do when I wake up involve bacon. So, this week, I started going for runs at 10 p.m. or later and can't complain. Capitol Parkway and most of Lincoln's main streets are well-lit. And, according to my Nike+ GPS app, I ran my miles at a slightly speedier clip than normal. I'm crediting the fear of being mugged.

"Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline. I'm in the middle of the audio version of this science fiction novel narrated by Wil Wheaton. Published last summer, the book is about a high school student in the year 2044 on a Holy Grail-type of quest. What makes it so endearing is all the 1980s pop culture references, from video games to movies to television shows. It takes me back to my youth. Her program, complete with photos, humorous stories, authentic and replica garments, and hands-on demonstrations, packed the meeting room for AAUW Livonia chapter's final gathering of the season.

Designer Handbags - Why Do Women Crave Them ?

Have you seen any designer compromise with the quality? Never! Designers attach their personal name and brand, where they put in all their hard work, so it is hard to imagine that any designer will ever compromise quality for a saving a bit of money. Some prefer small handbags that would just fit their purse and a couple of cosmetics, while others would prefer their books to fit into their handbags. If you are irrefutably chic with an eye for special details, Yves Saint Laurent would be a great choice. Though the are imitations of famous brands including Hermes,Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Christian Dior and not crafted from the original fashion houses, manufacturers of them put great care and dedication on every detail, making sure that they are in perfect look and condition.

However, on close inspection, you would discover that the bag is not a fine creation from a world famous luxury goods house. The primary reason being that different women have different tastes and they try to express it with different kinds handbags. And the luxury designer handbag makes the greatest of all such expressions. Many women fall prey to the latest trends in designer handbags such as Christian Dior, Gucci, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. While, since they are highly priced, it seems that they are restricted to celebrities or persons with predominant status.

These types of handbags generally tend to have one color, a simple yet elegant design and can sometimes be mistaken as ordinary bags designed for a mass market by large retailers.Owning a handbag that your rival is going to envy is an ultimate dream come true and that is why the authentic designer handbag is most wanted as a complement to every fashionista's wardrobe. The answer to the question, "why do women spend so much on their beloved designer handbags?" Because the luxury designer handbag is the ultimate expression of stature and allure in any stylish woman's fashion repretoire.
